Choosing a Baileigh Plate Roll for Your Shop

Capacity and forming length are the two biggest factors in choosing a plate roll. Use the guide below to match a model to the material and part size you work with most.

Entry-Level Baileigh Plate Rolls

These models are built for shops rolling lighter gauge steel without a large equipment budget. Both use hydraulic back roll adjustment for consistent results.

Baileigh PR-413 48" Plate Roll — 13 Gauge

  • Mild Steel Capacity: 13 Gauge
  • Maximum Forming Length: 48"
  • Motor: 2 HP

A straightforward starting point for shops rolling light gauge steel on single-phase power.

Baileigh PR-514 60" Plate Roll — 14 Gauge

  • Mild Steel Capacity: 14 Gauge
  • Forming Width: 60"
  • Motor: 2 HP

A wider forming width for shops rolling larger 14 gauge panels on single-phase power.

Hydraulic Baileigh Plate Rolls

This lineup covers the most common shop needs, from thin gauge steel to full quarter inch plate. Compare forming length and mild steel capacity to find the right fit for your work.

Four-Roll Baileigh Plate Rolls

Four-roll machines pinch the plate through the entire cycle, so the part never loses its set position. These models are built for heavier plate and higher volume fabrication work.

Baileigh PR-603-4 72" Four-Roll Double Pinch Plate Roll — 1/4"

  • Mild Steel Capacity: 1/4"
  • Maximum Forming Length: 80"
  • Motor: 4 HP

A four-roll design that pinches, pre-bends, and finishes the part in one pass.

Baileigh PR-10500-4 120" Four-Roll Plate Roll — 1/2"

  • Mild Steel Capacity: 1/2"
  • Maximum Forming Length: 120"
  • Motor: 10 HP

Full production capacity for heavy fabrication shops rolling half inch plate at scale.

Baileigh Plate Rolls FAQs

What is the difference between a three-roll and four-roll plate roll?

A three-roll machine pinches the plate at one end and pre-bends it before rolling. A four-roll machine, like the PR-603-4 and PR-10500-4, pinches both ends at once, so the part never loses position and no pre-bend step is needed.

How do I know what mild steel capacity I need?

Mild steel capacity is listed by gauge or thickness for each model. Match it to the thickest material you regularly work with, since rolling beyond a machine's rated capacity puts extra strain on the rolls and motor.

Do these plate rolls run on single-phase or three-phase power?

Most models in this lineup run on 220V three-phase power. The PR-413 and PR-514 are the two single-phase options, which makes them a fit for shops without three-phase service.

Do Baileigh plate rolls come with digital readouts?

Most hydraulic models in this lineup include a digital readout for the back roll position, so you can return to the same setting across a production run without guesswork.
