JET Cold Saws FAQs

What is a cold saw and how is it different from an abrasive cut-off saw?

A cold saw uses a toothed circular blade spinning at low RPM to cut metal without generating significant heat. The blade and material stay cool, which leaves a clean, burr-free cut face that is often ready to use without grinding. An abrasive saw uses a grinding wheel at high speed and generates heat, sparks, and a rougher cut edge.

What is the difference between a ferrous and a non-ferrous cold saw?

Ferrous cold saws are designed for cutting steel, stainless steel, and hard alloys. They run at lower blade speeds suited to those materials. Non-ferrous cold saws run at higher blade speeds and are built for aluminum, brass, copper, and similar soft metals. Using the wrong saw for your material type shortens blade life and reduces cut quality.

Do JET cold saws come with blades?

Yes. Each JET cold saw ships with a blade matched to its material type. Replacement blades are available separately through our JET Cold Saw Blades collection when it is time to replace a worn blade.

What voltage options are available for JET cold saws?

It varies by model. The JET CS-275 and JET CS-315 are available in 1-phase and 3-phase. The JET J-FK350 and JET J-CK350 are 3-phase only, available in 230V or 460V.
