JET Shapers FAQs

What is a wood shaper used for?

A wood shaper cuts decorative profiles and functional edges along a workpiece. It is used for raised panel doors, molding, edge profiles, and joinery. The spindle holds a rotating cutter, and you guide the workpiece along a fence or bearing to produce a consistent shape.

What size shaper do I need for my shop?

For light profiling and smaller stock, the JET JWS-20CS handles everyday work well. The JWS-25X and JWS-35X3-1 suit professional shops running larger cutters. The JWS-35X5-1 is built for production demand.

What spindle sizes do JET shapers accept?

Spindle capacity varies by model. The JWS-20CS accepts up to 3/4", the JWS-25X accepts up to 1", and both JWS-35X models accept up to 1-1/4". Replacement spindles are available in the JET Shaper Accessories collection.

Do JET shapers come with spindles and collets included?

JET shapers include a spindle with the machine. Additional spindle sizes and collet sets are sold separately and are available in the JET Shaper Accessories collection for the JWS-25X and JWS-35X models.
