Laguna Lathes FAQs

What size Laguna Revo lathe do I actually need?

Choosing a Revo usually comes down to swing, between-centers capacity, and shop space:

  • Revo 12|16 — Best for small shops; handles everyday spindles and small bowls.
  • Revo 15|24 — Adds sliding-headstock flexibility and more capacity without a bigger footprint.
  • Revo 18|36 & 24|36 — Heavier frames and more power for larger bowls, longer spindles, and steadier cuts.

All models are built to grow with you:

  • 12|16 accepts 10" or 20" bed extensions.
  • 15|24, 18|36, 24|36 accept 20" extensions for added length or outboard turning.

We offer these extensions as optional accessories. Extensions bolt on cleanly and maintain factory alignment, so you can start small and expand as your projects get bigger.

Do I need additional lighting or tool support for detailed turning?

Most turners benefit from better task lighting and steadier tool support. Laguna’s LED Chameleon Lamp mounts directly to all Revo models and gives adjustable brightness and color temperature for clear visibility at the cut. Larger lathes also handle a range of tool rests, and each model has compatible rests sized for bowl work, spindle work, and detail shaping.

See our Laguna Lathe accessories for all optional add-ons for your Laguna Lathe.

How hard is it to move a Laguna Revo lathe in a small shop?

The lathes themselves are heavy for stability, but moving them is simple with the right wheel system. Each model has a dedicated optional mobility kit that lets you reposition the machine without lifting and then set it back down on solid pads for vibration-free turning. The Revo 12|16 wheel system requires the adjustable stand, while the 15|24, 18|36, and 24|36 systems mount directly to the lathe frame.
