What does a power hammer do?

A power hammer shrinks, stretches, and planishes sheet metal using repeated mechanical strikes. It replaces hand hammering for panel shaping, dent removal, and forming work in fabrication, automotive, and aviation shops.

What is the difference between a power hammer and a planishing hammer?

A power hammer like the Baileigh PH-19 or MH-19 shrinks and stretches metal with interchangeable dies. A planishing hammer, such as the AH-24R, focuses on smoothing metal that's already shaped.

Do Baileigh power hammers need an air compressor?

Some do. The AH-24R, AH-24H, PH-24A, and PH-36A run on 90–120 psi compressed air. The PH-19, MH-19, and MH-37HD run on 110V or 220V electric power instead.

What throat depth do I need for automotive panel work?
