The Laguna Bandit 3/2 Edgebander is a practical start. It runs on single-phase 220V power and trims and buffs edges in one pass. If you want touchscreen setup and scraping, the Laguna SmartEdge Compact Edgebander is sized for small to mid-size shops.

What is pre-milling on an edgebander?

Pre-milling takes a light cut off the panel edge right before the banding goes on. This removes chips and saw marks so the tape bonds to a clean, square edge. The Laguna Bandit 5 Edgebander and Laguna SmartEdge Elite Edgebander both include a pre-mill station.

What thickness of edge banding can a Laguna edgebander run?

The Bandit 3/2 runs banding from 0.4 to 2 mm. The Bandit 4 handles 0.4 to 3 mm, and the Bandit 5 runs 1/64" to 1/8". The SmartEdge Compact and SmartEdge Elite both handle 0.5 to 3 mm.

What air and dust collection does an edgebander need?

Plan for both. The Bandit 3/2 needs 87 PSI clean, dry air. The SmartEdge Compact needs 10 CFM at 90 PSI and 1000 CFM of dust collection. The SmartEdge Elite needs 12 CFM at 90 PSI and 1500 CFM. The Bandit 5 calls for 2000 CFM.
