Square Platen Design Keeps Grinding Surface True
The flat platen on the SWG-272 runs square to the workpiece rather than crowned. This gives you a long, flat grinding surface that supports consistent contact across the full length of the belt. Flat stock, angular work, and internal or external parts all register correctly against the platen without the distortion a crowned wheel introduces.
Cast Iron Head and Steel Frame Hold Machine Geometry
The head casting is strong cast iron and the frame is welded steel. This combination resists flex and keeps the platen and contact wheels in alignment under load. The aluminum drive wheel is cast for long service life and maintains consistent belt tracking session after session.
Multiple Contact Wheels Match the Work at Hand
The SWG-272 ships with three contact wheels: an 8" × 2" serrated wheel installed at the machine, a 1-1/2" × 2" smooth wheel, and a 3" × 2" smooth wheel. Each wheel serves a different surface and edge geometry. Swapping wheels lets you move between aggressive material removal and finer finishing work without changing machines.
Adjustable Dust Port Directs Sparks and Debris Away
An adjustable dust port connects to shop dust collection and routes sparks and grinding debris away from the operator. All grinding surfaces are fully guarded. The toggle switch includes a safety cover and a push-button power indicator with a safety key so the machine does not restart unexpectedly.
