Meehanite Cast Column and Base Holds the Machine Rigid Under Load

The column and base on the JTM-949EVS are cast using the certified Meehanite process, which produces a dense, stable casting that resists flex during heavy cuts. This matters most when you are taking deep passes or pushing larger end mills through hard material. A rigid base keeps the spindle in alignment and reduces chatter so the cut comes out clean from start to finish.

Class 7 Spindle Bearings Maintain Accuracy in Heavy Cutting

Class 7 spindle bearings are rated for the higher speeds and side loads that come with milling work. They support the spindle with less runout, which translates directly to surface quality and dimensional accuracy on the part. The spindle head is also internally cooled, which keeps bearing and belt temperatures in check during extended runs and helps both last longer between service intervals.

Turcite-B Way Coating Reduces Vibration on X and Y Travel

The X and Y-axis ways are coated with Turcite-B, a low-friction material that dampens vibration as the table moves. You get a smoother feel during hand cranking and less surface roughness on the finished part. The 9" × 49" table offers 36" of longitudinal travel and 12-5/8" of cross travel, with hardened and precision-ground surfaces rated to 54 HRC for long-term wear resistance.

Automatic Oiler Keeps Way Lubrication on Schedule

The automatic oiler delivers 3 to 6 cc of lubrication every 30 minutes without any action required from the operator. Way lubrication is easy to neglect during a busy session, and skipping it leads to wear that shows up gradually in fit and surface quality. This system keeps the schedule on its own so the ways stay protected through long jobs and short ones alike.
