JET JTM-1 9" × 42" Vertical Milling Machine
Are you tired of chatter, flex, and inconsistent cuts that force you to re-run operations and lose time on jobs that should be straightforward?
What if your mill held its position cut after cut, gave you repeatable depth control, and handled the range of speeds your work actually demands?
Meet the JET JTM-1 9" × 42" Vertical Milling Machine, a step pulley knee mill built for serious shop use in metal and general machining work.
With Certified Meehanite castings, Class 7 spindle bearings, and a three-stage power down feed with automatic stop, this machine is built to hold tolerance and stay in service.
When your mill is this solid, you can focus on the work instead of second-guessing your setup.
JET JTM-1 for Accurate, Repeatable Milling Work
Meehanite Cast Construction Holds the Machine Rigid
The column, base, and head are cast from Certified Meehanite iron, a dense, vibration-damping material that keeps the structure stable under cutting load. Flex in the casting is one of the most common causes of poor surface finish and lost tolerance. The JTM-1 addresses that at the foundation. Precision hardened and ground ways carry the table and knee with consistent contact so your cuts track true from start to finish.
Class 7 Spindle Bearings Maintain Accuracy at the Cutting Tool
The spindle runs on Class 7 bearings, a high-precision grade that limits runout and keeps the cutting tool where it needs to be. The milling head is precision bored and honed to match. An internal cooling system in the spindle head carries heat away during extended cuts so the head stays stable and bearing fit is not compromised by thermal expansion.
Three-Stage Power Down Feed Controls Depth of Cut
The quill down feed runs at three selectable rates: .0015, .003, and .006 inches per revolution. An automatic stop lets you set a depth and walk away from the handwheel. The 3-3/8 inch chromed quill travels 5 inches and accepts R-8 tooling. This setup gives you controlled, repeatable plunge cuts without manual guesswork on depth.
16-Speed Step Pulley Matches RPM to the Job
Spindle speeds run from 80 to 5,440 RPM across 16 steps. That range covers slow roughing passes in steel and faster finish work in aluminum or softer materials. The heavy-duty splined motor drive transfers power cleanly through the step pulley system. A one-shot lubrication system keeps the ways and knee serviced without stopping the work.
