Square Column with Dovetail Ways Keeps the Head from Shifting
A round column mill drill allows the head to rotate when you raise or lower it, which means you lose your X-Y position every time you adjust. The square column on the JMD-45GH uses dovetail ways to hold the head in place through the full range of vertical travel. Your layout stays where you set it, and you don't have to re-indicate after adjustments.
Six-Speed Geared Head Transfers Full Motor Power to the Cutter
The geared head connects the motor directly to the spindle through a gear train, so you get the full 1-1/2 HP at the cutter regardless of which speed you select. Quick-select gear shift levers let you move between the six speeds without tools. The 65 to 1550 RPM range gives you the low end for large diameter work and the high end for smaller tooling in softer material.
R8 Spindle Opens the Machine to Standard Mill Tooling
The R8 taper is the most common spindle standard in benchtop milling, and the JMD-45GH is built around it. Collets, end mill holders, and shell mill arbors in R8 fit without modification. The 3-inch quill diameter and 5 inches of spindle travel give you the reach to handle deeper drilling operations without repositioning the table.
Calibrated Fine Down Feed and Internal Depth Gauge Support Consistent Drilling Depth
The built-in calibrated fine down feed gives you controlled quill movement for drilling work where depth consistency matters. The internal depth gauge reads without stopping to consult a separate indicator. Both systems work together so your hole depths stay repeatable across a run of parts.
