Tormek Diamond Wheels

Tormek Diamond Wheels give your Tormek Sharpeners a wheel that cuts faster, lasts longer, and stays consistent no matter how often you sharpen. They handle the hard steels your stone struggles with, and they make it easy to grind a clean, flat bevel with the MB-102 Multi Base.

Choose your Diamond Wheel:

For the Tormek T-8, choose 250 mm size. For the Tormek T-4, choose 200 mm size.

How to Choose Your Tormek Diamond Wheel

All three Tormek Diamond Wheels hold their shape, so your jig settings stay consistent and your bevel stays true. The main difference is simple: how fast you want to remove steel versus how clean you want the finish off the wheel.

If you’re grinding a new bevel, fixing chips, or working hard steels that feel slow on a stone, start coarser. If you’re mostly maintaining edges and want a cleaner finish with less cleanup time, go finer.

Note: The 250 mm wheels fit the Tormek T-8 and provide more stability on larger tools. The 200 mm wheels fit the T-4, delivering the same performance in a compact form.

Common Diamond Wheel Setups and Quick Shop Notes

If you are not sure where to start, these setups cover most sharpening work without overthinking it.

  • One wheel for most shops: DF for balanced grinding speed and a clean finish.
  • Repair and maintain: DC for shaping and repairs, then DF for everyday sharpening.
  • Maintain and polish: DF for sharpening, then DE when you want the cleanest bevel and finish.
  • Flat bevel grinding: Any diamond wheel pairs well with the MB-102 Multi Base to grind a true flat bevel on the side of the wheel.

Quick notes: Use very light pressure and let the diamonds do the work. Diamond wheels keep their shape, so do not use the SP-650 Stone Grader or the TT-50 Truing Tool on them.

Tormek Diamond Wheels FAQs

Why choose a diamond wheel instead of a grindstone?

Diamond wheels hold a constant shape and diameter, so your jig settings stay the same over time. That makes repeat sharpening faster and more consistent. They also cut hard materials efficiently and let you grind a flat bevel on the wheel side when used with the MB-102 Multi Base.

Can I sharpen hard steels and ceramic with Tormek Diamond Wheels?

Yes. Tormek Diamond Wheels are made to sharpen all types of steel, including HSS and other hard alloys, and they can also sharpen ceramic. If you’ve got steels your stone wheel feels slow on, diamond is usually the fix.

Do Tormek diamond wheels need truing or grading?

No. Diamond wheels keep their shape, so they do not need the TT-50 Truing Tool. And you should never use the SP-650 Stone Grader on a diamond wheel. Both can damage the diamond coating.

What’s the most important thing to know when sharpening with a diamond wheel?

Use very light pressure and let the diamonds do the work. Too much pressure can damage the wheel. Tormek also recommends using less water than you would with a stone wheel, and using ACC-150 Anti-Corrosion Concentrate in the water to help prevent rust on the wheel.
