Robert Becker, editor of Creative Woodworks & Crafts, writes:
Early in 2010, long time scroll-sawing expert and pattern designer Roy King told us that he had a "small basket" to show us.
As soon as we saw it, we liked it a lot -- even more than the other items he was submitting; in fact everyone at our office who saw the basket greatly appreciated it. It soon became clear that this "small basket" had great appeal; after all, it only required two pieces of wood, did not involve inside cuts, and looked great.
As editor, my next move was to ask Roy to design and build ten more baskets in the same genre, which he did, and it turned out that thousands of scrollers have found these basket patterns to be nothing short of excellent -- they love them!
With this in mind, we decided to offer our good friends at Advanced Machinery the opportunity to offer them as well and here they are!
One of the great things about buying these patterns and building the baskets is that you not only get the patterns, you acquire the guidance of Roy King as well -- Roy welcomes emails with questions relating to the Elegant Art Baskets, and he has already shared lots of valuable information with grateful customers. You can reach Roy at scrollsawing@yahoo.com.

By popular demand, a SECOND set of Elegant Art Baskets has been released!
Designed by Roy King, these baskets (as with set one) use only two pieces of wood, saving you money.
Set two includes ten brand new, gorgeous designs which produce highly functional accent pieces for your home, and they make great gifts as well. Many of the baskets in this set are "suspended," i.e., the bottom of the basket rests slightly above the surface they are sitting on, held in that position by the innovative design of the base or "leg" pieces.
Reviewing all the scroll sawn baskets which have been designed over the past fifteen years, it is clear that these Elegant Art Baskets are like no other baskets on the market today -- they are the most simple, easy-to-build, beautiful baskets you can build with your scroll saw!

| Learning to Use Your Scroll Saw |
By Joanne Lockwood
Do you want to get the MOST from your scroll saw? Are you new to scrolling? Do you have questions and no one you can ask? Do you feel you are not getting all you could from your scrolling hobby? Learning to Use Your Scroll Saw is your answer!
In the 1980’s and 90’s Joanne Lockwood became one of the most sought-after scroll saw seminar presenters in America. Clients would literally fly in from thousands of miles away to attend one of the sold-out sessions in her studio in Sacramento, California.
Although she has since retired, her book and video presentations live on to provide a new generation of scrollers the same valuable tips and techniques that helped thousands enjoy scrollsawing as it become a national phenomenon in the 80’s and 90’s.
Covering core basics as well as some more advanced techniques, Learning to Use Your Scroll Saw is a concise, easy-to-understand way to get up to speed and enjoy your saw the way it was meant to be enjoyed. Although they are a mere fraction of the cost of a live class, both the DVD and the book, with its many tips and photographs, can be referred to time and time again, and used by all members of your family, to make sure you have maximum scrolling fun without the aggravation of easily avoidable errors!
From setting up your saw to choosing a blade, from how to hold the wood to beginner’s practice exercises, from stack and angle cutting to over 20 actual projects with copyable patterns, the information in the Learning to Use Your Scroll Saw book will be a cherished addition to your woodworking library for years to come.
Note that the DVD is designed to accompany the book as a “live experience” to augment the printed word. While it contains its own information as well, the video’s best value is achieved by using the two together.
Now available at a new, lower price of only $9.95 for either the book or DVD, or only $16.95 for the combination: you save $3.00!
Limited closeout VHS cassettes are now only $4.95 – same content as DVD. |
