| T-3 Water Cooled Sharpening Machine |
Tormek T-3 Water Cooled Sharpening System
Tormek now offers two models, the powerful T-7 with a 250 mm (10") grindstone and the compact T-3 with a 200 mm (8") grindstone. Click here or below for a side by side comparison between the two models.
With the new T-3 you get access to the Tormek high quality sharpening system at a favourable price and it is ideal for sharpening woodworking hand tools, knives and scissors.
Utilizing a 200mm (8" grinding wheel, the T-3 model sharpens wood chisels and plane irons with great accuracy and safety thanks to the Square Edge Jig SE-76.
Conventional jigs on the market require that you align the tool in the jig with two mounting screws which is time consuming and you lose the exact repeatability when re-sharpening. The new Tormek Square Edge jig solves this problem and the chisel will be lined up squarely at 90 degrees each time without any adjustments. This is achieved because the jig automatically aligns the chisel to its flat, machined face.
The SE-76 can also firmly clamp short and tapered tools such as Japanese chisels. The jig copes with blades up to 76 mm or 3" width.
It also has travel limit stops that prevent you from running the tool off the edge and scraping a knuckle. |
Features of the T-3 model
|
|
Stainless steel hardware with Ezylock shaft
Prevents from rust and wear on bearings. Change stones without tools. |
|
Universal Support with acme thread
Round section without flat machining makes it faster to change position. |
|
Improved Horizontal Base
Double locking screws and tighter fit for highest precision. |
|
Micro Adjust with scale
For a predetermined cutting depth when using the TT-50 Truing and Dressing Tool. |
|
The T-3 System also includes the Angle Master , Honing Compound , Handbook and Instructional DVD
In the drop-down menu below you can choose to get the T-3 with the TT-50 Truing Tool and the SP-650 Stone Grader, or choose the T-3 Hand Tool Package which includes the TT-50, the SP-650 and the HTK-705 Hand Tool Kit.

| Tormek Square Edge Jig |
The jig (1) comprises an upper base with a lower clamp and two locking knobs for fixing the tool. The jig slides on the Universal Support on nylon bushings across the grindstone. The edge angle is set with the Micro Adjust (4) on the Universal Support (5).
There are two safety stops to prevent the tool from slipping off the stone when grinding. One inner stop (2) to be positioned according to the width of the tool and one outer stop (3) mounted on the end of the Universal Support.
The jig automatically lines up the chisel to its upper, flat side so the tool always mounts correctly and grinds at 90°. Conventional jigs need manual alignment.
The lower clamp has a ridge in the centre enabling shorter tools with a tapered shank to be firmly mounted, e.g. Japanese chisels. The upper base, which lines up the tool, is designed so the clamping pressure is distributed to the ends and the tool mounts firmly without a heavy tightening of the knobs.
The jig is designed for grinding towards the edge with the Universal Support placed vertically and for honing away from the edge with the Universal Support placed horizontally.
The Square Edge Jig is included with the TORMEK T-7 and T-3 machine models. |
