Tormek Japanese Waterstone

The Tormek Japanese Waterstone is 4000 grit and delivers a mirror finish with hardly any visible marks. Since it is made to create the finest surface, it has a limited steel removal capacity and cannot be used for shaping* a tool.

It excels at sharpening hand tools like carving tools, knives, scissors, plane irons and wood chisels where a minimum of steel removal is needed and a superior surface finish is demanded. Its unique composition gives the stone an extremely long life. Since the surface left by the Japanese Waterstone is so fine, we do not recommend honing afterwards on the leather honing wheel.

You should clean the stone surface of steel particles every minute or so with the fine side of the Stone Grader SP-650. Do not use the coarse side of the Stone Grader on the Japanese Waterstone.

EzyLock Replacement Shaft
With the Tormek EzyLock, which is both a nut and a washer, you need no tools for mounting and dismounting the stone. The special pitch on the left hand thread causes the rotation of the wheel to tighten the nut to the right torque.

Turn the Ezylock anticlockwise by hand and the grindstone will automatically tighten during the first sharpening. You need no tools.

When dismounting, you turn the stone clockwise and the EzyLock will automatically become loose.

This construction also makes it very easy to change grindstones, from the standard aluminum oxide to the new specialty stones (Blackstone Silicon for High Speed Steel and the 4000 Grit Japanese Waterstone).

The shaft, washer and EzyLock are all made of stainless steel. 

Choose shaft for Tormek T-7 (also fits Tormek 2000 and all older models with 250 mm (10") stone) or shaft for T-3 (also fits tormek 1200) in the drop down box below.

Requires replacement of main shaft.

Diamond Truing Tool
Diamond Truing Tool with screw feed trues the stone exactly round and flat.
  • Dual knob screw permits an easily controlled feed across the stone for a perfectly flat surface. If you feed faster, you create a rougher surface which grinds more quickly.

T-7 Hand Tool Package
The Tormek Hand Tool Package includes the Tormek T-7 Package and the HTK-705 Hand Tool Kit. The Hand Tool Kit contains these Tormek Jigs: (Click on individual items to see descriptions and images.)
  • SVM-45 Knife Jig - For most knives. Width 45 mm (1 3/4"). Long knives need to be stiff. Min blade length 60 mm (2 3/8"). Also for carvers draw knives.
  • SVM-140 Long Knife Jig - Suitable for long and flexible knives. The 140 mm (5 1/2") width of the jig stabilizes a thin blade. Min blade length 160 mm (6 3/8").
  • SVX-150 Scissors Jig - For scissors of all sizes and shears. Also suitable for portable electric hand planer blades.
  • SVS-32 Short Tool Jig - For straight shanked carving gouges and V-tools down to 45 mm (1 3/4") length. Short wood chisels and tools for power carvers. Max. tool width 32 mm (1 1/4").
