With the Tormek EzyLock, which is both a nut and a washer, you need no tools for mounting and dismounting the stone. The special pitch on the left hand thread causes the rotation of the wheel to tighten the nut to the right torque.
Turn the Ezylock anticlockwise by hand and the grindstone will automatically tighten during the first sharpening. You need no tools.
When dismounting, you turn the stone clockwise and the EzyLock will automatically become loose.
This construction also makes it very easy to change grindstones, from the standard aluminum oxide to the new specialty stones (Blackstone Silicon for High Speed Steel and the 4000 Grit Japanese Waterstone).
The shaft, washer and EzyLock are all made of stainless steel.
Choose shaft for Tormek T-7 (also fits Tormek 2000 and all older models with 250 mm (10") stone) or shaft for T-3 (also fits tormek 1200) in the drop down box below.
The TORMEK Stone Grader is used to grade the Grindstone to a finer surface. For example, the TORMEK Grindstone has a normal grit rating of 220 with a grain size is 0.06 mm (0.0024"). Use the Stone grader to change to a 1000 grit suitable for fine finish grinding/sharpening
Use the other side of the grader to return the stone to its 220 grit.
The stone grader is also used for renewing a glazed stone.
Exact replication on woodturning fingernail gouges and skews
Fingernail gouges and skews with a curved edge are difficult to sharpen with precision due to the complicated geometries. Both the shape and edge angle must be repeated exactly. Look at the geometries shown in the picture achieved on a fingernail spindle gouge, a fingernail bowl gouge, a plane skew with a radius edge and on an oval skew with a curved edge.
This latest development from TORMEK, the Turning Tool Setter TTS-100 solves this problem and makes the sharpening an easy task. It enables you to exactly replicate the edge on bowl or spindle gouges as well as flat or oval skews with either a straight or a curved edge.
Thanks to the exact settings at each sharpening – you can just touch up the edge and the work is done in seconds. You do not shape but sharpen the tool.
The Setter works with the TORMEK jigs SVD-185 for gouges and the SVS-50 for skews. The built in settings give you pre-determined edge geometries, which are recommended by experienced turners around the world. You do not need to worry about whether you have the right shape.
Another benefit of the design is that it works irrespectively of the stone diameter. You always get exactly the same edge angle – even when you switch from a worn stone to a new larger one. The Turning Tool Setter works as well when setting the edge angle on the leather honing wheel.
This is how it works:
One side of the setter works as a protrusion measure when mounting the tool in the jig.
Setting the Universal Support with the TTS-100 Setter.
Touching up the edge at exactly the same geometry.
The versatile TORMEK Universal Support is the basis of the TORMEK system. It is made of 12 mm (approx. 1/2") round steel and has a double mounting for maximum stability. The Universal Support incorporates a micro adjust for exact and fast fine setting.
The Universal Support can be placed in three positions:
The Universal Support can be placed either in the vertical sleeves or in a horizontal base. These two positions enable you to grind either towards the edge or away from the edge.
The Universal Support can also be placed horizontally for honing with jigs. Honing must always be done with the wheel running away from the edge.
Vertically in the two sleeves. For grinding towards the edge.
