THIS IS THE NEWEST IMPROVED VERSION OF THE T-7, which features a larger water tray for less spillage, EzyLock Stone Mounting for quick stone change without tools and ED-Coated Housing for maximum protection, and comes with the new 10-Year warranty.
The T-7 wet stone sharpening system is rated for continuous use and has a vast array of specialty jigs available so you can quickly and easily sharpen virtually any tool in your house, backyard shed or workshop.
The heart of the T-7 is the Tormek SG-250 10" x 2" grinding wheel turning at a slow 90 rpm through water. The water acts as a lubricant for faster grinding while it continuously cools the tool edge to prevent "bluing" the metal edges you are sharpening. After grinding, the genuine leather honing wheel gently removes the burr and hones the edge to razor sharpness.
Features of the Tormek T-7:
Durable drive wheel with proprietary rubber compound
Stainless steel main shaft with Ezylock for quick stone change
Acme threaded tool rest with micro adjustment
Square Edge Jig to sharpen chisels and plane blades more easily than ever
110 volt, 200W, 60Hz, 1.5 Amp Motor
37 lb weight
10 year warranty
Square Edge Jig SE-76
The exclusive SE-76 Square Edge Jig, included with the T-7, changes the task of grinding tools square from tricky to foolproof. It references from the flat side of the tool for unparalleled ease in tool mounting. It also has travel limit stops that prevent you from running the tool off the edge and scraping a knuckle.
Use instead of upper blade clamp and align your blade instantly. Positive stop puts blade in same position every time, and easy-grip knob places pressure directly on the blade for slip-free tightening.
The jig (1) comprises an upper base with a lower clamp and two locking knobs for fixing the tool. The jig slides on the Universal Support on nylon bushings across the grindstone. The edge angle is set with the Micro Adjust (4) on the Universal Support (5).
There are two safety stops to prevent the tool from slipping off the stone when grinding. One inner stop (2) to be positioned according to the width of the tool and one outer stop (3) mounted on the end of the Universal Support.
The jig automatically lines up the chisel to its upper, flat side so the tool always mounts correctly and grinds at 90°. Conventional jigs need manual alignment.
The lower clamp has a ridge in the centre enabling shorter tools with a tapered shank to be firmly mounted, e.g. Japanese chisels. The upper base, which lines up the tool, is designed so the clamping pressure is distributed to the ends and the tool mounts firmly without a heavy tightening of the knobs.
The jig is designed for grinding towards the edge with the Universal Support placed vertically and for honing away from the edge with the Universal Support placed horizontally.
The Square Edge Jig is included with the TORMEK T-7 and T-3 machine models.
This jig is made especially for knives with thin, flexible blades. It works in the same way as the SVM-45 jig but it is wider and therefore gives more support to flexible blades.
The jig comprises an adjustable clamp (1) for holding knives of any thickness and an adjustable stop (2). You adjust the jig to the knife thickness with the screw (3). You lock the tool by tightening the knob (4).
The jig rests on the Universal Support. The exact edge angle is set by rotating the stop or with the Micro Adjust on the Universal Support. The Universal Support is placed vertically for grinding towards the edge.
